Decided to jump out of a plane at 15,000 ft in Taupo yesterday, fuck knows what i was thinking but it was a pretty amazing experience and i'm glad i did it. The buzz it gave me was very different from the rush I felt from doing the Nevis Bungee in Queenstown a few weeks ago, it was a lot less scary imo and the kick I got out of it wasn’t as great although the Sky Dive was still incredible. With the Bungee its obviously you that has to throw yourself off and with a Sky Dive once you’re in the plane you are pretty much fooked lol. The Sky Dive is mad because I was free falling for 60 seconds and after about 10 ish secs I’m actually travelling at terminal velocitay and your brain has no depth of perception at that height so you cant feel yourself falling. When the parachute opens you just hang there at a redic height for a good few minutes and its kinda more relaxed, a sort of warm floaty feeling.
Weather wise the day was just perfect without a single cloud in the sky so I had to nail it yesterday or I‘d have regretted not jumping. The views were pretty special with the skies being sooo clear that I could actually see both the east and west coast and also the whole of Lake Taupo which is the size of Singapore, incred!
I’ve posted a few snaps below and also got a DVD of the whole thing which is quite funny, I’ll post both the Bungee Jump and Sky Dive vids when I get home. The pics of me landing are quite comedy as well as it looks like I’m shitting myself but on the DVD I’m constantly grinning from ear to ear lovin it. Infact I was really relaxed about the whole jump whereas I felt quite sick at the thought of doing the Bungee Jump. Perhaps the feeling i would have experienced from both may have been different if i'd Sky Dived first as opposed to Bungee jumping Nevis? I don’t think I’d Sky Dive again but I would deffo Bungee again although it would probably have to be high enough to be worth it, China has the highest Bungy Jump in the world apparently. Both jumps have given me a great sense of achievement and its an experience I will never forget, I love New Zealand, laters.
